Although tools such as CourseFeed are available to import formal academic content into Facebook, we will not be recommending these to students so as to avoid invading online social spaces. This project will only involve social networks as illustrations rather than for any formal intervention, e.g. reading Facebook RSS feeds in an RSS aggregator.

Ning (about): A free site which allows the creation ofprivate social networks, i.e. with a defined membership. Rich range of features, good access control.
