Insitutional policy and approaches to PDP

The University of Leicester has adopted a highly devolved approach to implementing Personal Development Planning (PDP). This approach has been taken for a number of reasons.

1. It enables departments to build on existing practice with regard to students’ skills development.
2. It provides departments with the flexibility to tailor PDP processes in a manor which best suits their students.
3. It allows departments to work with and build on existing personal tutorial/support arrangements.
4. It should encourage students to see PDP as a mainstream activity rather than a “bolted-on”, component of their experience at university.

This project is consistent with the University of Leicester's overall approach to implementation, and has the potential to inform practice in other departments.

Thanks Steve. We hope that this project will increase engagement with PDP, and so other departments will be queuing up to copy it! ;-) Do you find this valuable?
